Angry Not Shifting!! NEED HELP

As the title says, my truck (2001 5.9 auto) wont shift. It just goes way up past the usual 2500rpm shift point and wont shift under initial acceleration. The few times it does shift (usually after at least 30sec past when it should shift) it is fine after that...until the next time I accelerate from a stop. The fluid level is good. Any ideas on wats going on?

Check front band adjustment. Service manual tells how to do this. Look in FAQ/DIY section to download. I had same problem, but anchor fell out and into bottom of pan. Could not adjust. It did this on previous owner and he ended up burning band and drum. Had to rebuild tranny.

Is fluid burned? Did you check in neutral? Don't recommend flush. If fluid is not clean, remove pan, change filter, check rear band while you are there, install drain plug in pan, and check magnet for any debris in pan. May want o pull governor solenoid and pressure sensor and see if ther is any crap on the screen. Clena and reinstall or replace.

I think you need to replace the Governor solenoid and Governor pressure switch/transducer.

The fluid is not burned, yes I checked in neutral, no lights on. I dont really know much about transmissions at all, so anything where I have to really get into it for I would just take to a shop.

+1 on what zman said. Itll save you some money doing it yourself and its not as hard as you think. Plenty of people on here have done it and im sure there are some threads on here about it. I just cant find them at the moment

Default Down shift cable sticking?

I'm referring to the one running to the intake. I had this same issue, when it happened it usually was after a hard accelaration when the trans would down shift and the next time I would accelarate it wouldn't shift out of first gear until I hit 3000 rpm. Next time your in your driveway push the accelarator to the floor with the truck in park, after that crawl under the drivers side and see if the cable is retracted or if it's stuck (extended). This may not be your issue but it's worth a look. I didn't notice this on my truck until I did the plenum.

Good luck.
