Welcome to the forum.
First, if you're not familiar with the "plenum plate problem", read the sticky at the top of any main page in this forum. Not saying that's it (which it doesn't really sound like), but it's a must-read.
For your problem, I would:
Check for a good, strong, consistent spark at all plugs. This can rule out coil and crank/cam sensors.
Examine the IAC motor and passages. Remove the IAC motor and turn the ignition on and off. The plunger should move in or out maybe 1/2" or so, if it doesn't move, replace it.
If the spark isn't always strong and consistent at all cylinders, get to know your crank sensor. Find it (it's way back by the bell housing, just to the passenger side), and test it. (Crude testing procedure in this thread: "Interesting spark problem").
While you're spelunking for the crank sensor, examine the cap and rotor; replace if they don't look great.
Ditto for the spark plugs and wires.
