tire purchase? local shop or online
i got my prices from tread depot(a sponsor for the forum) and printed out the price of the tire and brought it to a local tire shop(i used stratham tire) and got 4 good year wrangler duratracs size 285/75/16E for 866.88 mounted balanced installed and lifetime balance and rotation. i do my own rotations and such so that wasnt needed.
This seems like a good post to ask this question. It may seem a little crazy but has anyone else noticed that a 255/75/17 is just as big, if not a tad bigger then a 265/70/17?

Cool site.
Edit: Follow on question. When inputting the tire height to a superchips, is it the as-measured (tape measure) or use something like this site I provided?
Fixed that typo. You are correct. That is due to how the P-metric sizing works. The first number is the width and the 2nd number is the percentage for the sidewall height.

I'm in the same boat as well since my tires are getting bald. My issue is I like the free tire fix/replacement that Firestone offers. If you get a nail or your tire blows out they will fix and or replace for free for the life of the tire.
I think there is a small fee, but it's worth it.

As-measured.
