Default HELP!!!!!!!!

Hay everyone,

I'm new to the forum and am a new Dodge owner. I just purchased a 2001 Ram 1500 2wd. I was lucky enough to buy it from a dealer who spent the $2500 to replace the heads that I found bad 3 days after purchase (with no warranty). However, they didn't touch the electrical problem. Here's the situation. When I turn on the headlights, the high beam indicator on the dash stays on. If I flick the switch to turn off the high beams, the indicator only dims and the second element on the inside bulb goes out. I purchased a Haynes manual and checked the multifunction switch per the manual. Everything checked out alright. On the passenger side behind the headlamp, there is a ground wire spliced into the ground that is already there. It goes to the marker/ turn signal lamp. The ground wire going to it is grounded, but apparently not well enough. The ground wire for the horns has also been spliced into the same grounding point. I believe the truck may have been in an accident, but the carfax report said nothing about it. I am half tempted to just go ahead and replace the multifunction switch and the headlight on/off switch just to see if they might be the problem. I need help figuring this out because my wife and kids ride in this and I need it to be safe and fully functionable. Please feel free to ask me any questions about the troubleshooting that I have already done.

Thanks,
Jason

I would appreciate it. Looking at the wiring on the truck and the wiring diagrams, it seems that a DC electrical system should be simpler than what's in the truck. I've checked the relays, I've chased wires, I've cleaned up all the grounding points and I have no clue what the culprit is. Someone mentioned daytime running lights. How do I know if my truck came equipped with them from the factory? This is another component that I can check to rule out if I know that it is there and where on the truck it is located.

Help???
Jason

When you get into an accident and bring it to a private autobody place, they do not have to file any record or anything so it does not show up on CARFAX. When you get it fixed at a dealer, that is when it shows up on CARFAX.

Okay, I never knew that. Well, I still haven't found the culprit. I subscribed to alldata and it's been a big help. I'm still open for suggestions though.
