high beams won't go out

My truck really is possessed. I was driving down the road, no lights on, and I just happen to glance at the dash and see my high beam light on. So I pull over and to see if they really are on since my headlights switch is in the off position. And the high beams are on. I mess around with the switch and walk around the truck to see which lights are. When the light switch is off, only the highs are on. The rest of the light work fine. So I pull the lever to turn my highs off and nothing. Doesn't do anything but click. Any ideas?

Could be your headlight switch or colum switch but....

By chance do you or truck reside in or was truck made for Canadian export?

If so, your Drl relay (daytime driving lights) relay may have burnt up...Its usually on the drivers inner fender under the master cylinder. Pull the plug off the relay and your lights will be fine.

I have seen several threads baout this, and several of them were wires shorted due to the switch, but I think that was in older trucks than yours when switch was on dash. You might sear for "high beams stay on" and see if you can find them. Can't recall the fix as I have not yet experienced that problem.

Two or four light system?

+1 on what dsertdog56 said, I had a similar problem, try unplugging the plug out and see if you highbeams go out, if they do, chances are that black box is finished. I took 2 pictures showing where it is if you need a point in the right direction.

As mentioned, usually under the master cylinder drivers side inner fender. Good luck!
