Default Raise the bed or drop the tank???

Will after 265,732 miles the fuel pump took a bump. To make things that much better I just filled up the tank.

So the big question is do I drop the tank or raise the bed?

What would you do??

i would say it depends on how hard the bolt in the bed are to remove and if you have enough good friends to lift it or not. if your gas tank was full then it may almost be easier to just remove the bed.

I lifted the bed when I changed my pump. I used 2x2 wood sticks on a floor jack one side at a time tell it was high enough to get the pump out. I left the back bolts in the bed really loose so the bed wouldn't slide off. 1.5 hour job by myself. If I remember right there is a you tube video showing how to do it! Gotta admit I was a little worried working under the bed. Be safe!

I had to change my pump on my f250 and I took the bed off. I regret it now because it's off by just a bit and I can't get it right for the life of me. Really sucks that you just filled up though. I'd still drop the tank.

I dropped the tank because my bed bolts weren't coming out and I didn't have anyone to help me lift it out. I had about 10gal in the tank, but since I was doing the job by myself, I took two ratchet straps and strapped the tank to the frame before removing the braces that hold it on. Then I just lowered it gradually using the ratchets. One thing to note is that my truck IS lifted, so clearance wasn't an issue. All things considered, and hind sight being 20/20, I would probably still drop the tank instead of taking off the bed if I had to do it all over.

Thank you all for your input.

That is how I was thinking of doing it. Removing the bed as a hole just seams like to much. But if I could just lift the front..

This is my fear, After 2 years as a body man I know how things move.

I like this way of doing it, Slow and easy, 25 gallons is not light.

I would say lowering the tank is the only way to go. Dam Dam lol.

Before you drop the tank disconnect the filler neck from it and get a fluid transfer pump- something like this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...entifier=94647. Pump out as much gas as you can. I filled up all my cans and lawnmower, cars, etc. It sucks because it takes a while but beats the heck out of trying to drop a tank with an extra 150 lbs of gas sloshing around
