Default Aluminum or Magnesium Alloy Wheels?

Im wanting to sand down the face of my three spoke wheels and sand the rest of the wheel, and then polish them to a shine. But if they're magnesium alloy, they wont polish. If they're aluminum they will. So what are the factory alloy three spoke rims?

There are factory polished 3 spokes, so therefore I would assume they are aluminum. I didn't know mag alloy wouldn't polish. Learn something new every day. (sometimes)

Awesome. Thanks. Yea I was reading up on polishing aluminum and I read that magnesium alloy doesn't polish. Im thinking of taking my wheels to a truck shop and have them dip them in the acid they use on the aluminum on trucks. Eat all the brake dust and clear coat off. That way its completely ready to polish

Since we're talking about wheels, what's the finish on these:?

The build sheet has the wheel finish listed but these aren't the factory wheels for my truck so it's useless in this case.

Well the picture I posted is just some random picture off the web. I have the same wheels on my truck, just don't have any good close up's.

Mine are in good shape though. But I was interested in having them re-finished if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. There is some curb rash I'd like to have taken care of.

Edit: I might add that the curb rash came from the previous owner of the wheels and not me.

A bunch of those truck shops can fix those imperfections for a decent price. I dunno about repainting them silver but scrapes and gashes I think they can tig weld that to fill it.
