Default custom 3" exhaust

i working on constructing/designing/just trying to figure out how the heck to make this work, a full 3" exhaust from the manifolds back; 3" y pipes, with a 3" y collector, running to a 3" si/so high flow cat, then to a 3" si/so cherry bomb extreme, carried on out to the exit in the rear on the passenger side with a 5" tip. my manifolds are 2.25" with a sliding two bolt flange on it (i believe). ill have to cut off my existing y pipes and taking them to my local exhaust shop as a model for them to bend my 3" y pipes. my problem arises at how do i tie in the 3" y pipes to the 2.25" manifolds? i feel like i could mod this below to work, just wanted to see what you guys thought?

Isn't a full 3 inch exhaust too big? I would imagine it would have a negative effect on your rig.

ive had people try to tell me it is and others tell me its not, that ill have enough back pressure in the system? i mean it is only a single, not dual. it will only have 3" y pipes which will then bottleneck down into a single 3"

If it's a single 3 inch exhaust, I think the 3 inch y pipe would be over kill. Just MHO.

i know its probably more than ill ever need, but it was kinda just one of those things ya know. so i could have a "full" 3" exhaust and if it wouldnt hurt me, i wouldnt mind anyways...

I'm not an exhaust guy, so don't take my word as the truth, but I think a 3 inch y pipe will hurt your rig. That is, take away power/backpressure. The thing that make the OE y pipe so horrible is that it has crimped bends which heavily restricts it's flow. What you'd want is a 2 1/4 inch MANDREL bent y pipe.

Stick with 2.25" off the manifolds, 3" single is fine.

the cat and muffler will give you plenty of back pressure, I wouldnt go out of your way to make it a full 3" system, but if thats what you want you will be fine.

so if i were to go with a 3" do you think those would work as somewhat of a reducer straight off the manifolds?
