Smile 46RE Rebuild

I know there is already a couple of these on the site but I figured I would still show you all what Im doing.

Ive never done this before so it will be very interesting. Im going try and post as many pics as i can while i get this done.

Well first off, I just wanted to get familiar with the trans tonight so I decided to take the pan off and just feel around.
I believe that this is the accumulator spring.(still learning the names of the parts)

Its broke!

Whats odd is that there was never a problem with the 3-4 Shift...That I could tell.

Now here is my first question. Is it likely that the inside of the accumulator housing where the spring sits is scared like the cover plate?

That scarring is not a problem, and that spring is not an uncommon failure. Also check the accumulator pistons and servo pistons as they sometimes crack. I installed aluminum piston to replace original plastic one.

Another tranny thread is always good. Lots of people look at these, and I always like to see different approaches, examples of different problems and issues, and learn more.

Looking forward to following your progress.
