Do water pump and timing chain during plenum install?
yes, you should replace timing chain and water pump while the top of the motor is stripped down.
my timing chain was shot at 125K with a ton of slack. timing chains don't usually break, and won't usually slip till 300K or so, but when they get a lot of slack it throws the timing out. also, my front seal was leaking.
my water pump was about $65-70. simple cloyes timing set was about $40. you'll need to borrow/rent a harmonic balance puller. set it up for the puller to push on the crank bolt, not the precious threads.
