Offroad Leaf Springs
I just put the 2" leveling kit on my 01 offroad, and of course, depending on where your are standing the back end looks to be sagging compared to the front. I want to put a add a leaf on the rear but what height do i need. Basically, i have never messed with the leaf springs before or the a.a.l. Does the a.a.l just bolt on with the existing rear components or does it actually replace them.
An aal is just a single leaf that you add just underneath the bound leaf pack but above the bottom small overload leaf. You would want it to give you about 1" -1.25" in the rear, but it will actually give you more then that when you first put it in. It needs some time to flex down. Put some weight in the back for about 6 months to help that out, or if you don't want to wait, you can take it to a suspension shop and have them re-arch it to match the stock leafs a little better.
An aal will stiffen up the ride in the rear, so if you don't like that, then another option would be to replace your stock block with a larger one.
I used the Skyjacker add-a-leaf, part number R222. You can get it from Summit or other online sellers.

Here is a pic of mine. The aal is the darker, cleaner black leaf just above the overload leaf. Also, you may need to get longer u-bolts if you put in an aal. I had to get new ones (notice how I had no thread sticking out past the nuts).
