Default '96 Ram 2500 5.9 Oil Weight & Capacity?

I figured I would be able to find the answer to this one by doing a search. Tried, and none such luck. I had my first problem rear its ugly head this morning on my newly acquired '96 2500 4x4. She was fine when I parked her then running like do-do on the way to work this morning. The check engine light came on so I turned her around, headed back home and plugged in the trusty OBD 2. Code was for random misfire and misfire on cylinder one. After inspecting cylinder ones plug and seeing that all looked well I headed over to the parts house for new plugs and wires. I started with cylinder ones plug and wire and discovered my problem. The wire had a huge crack in it exposing some of the bare wire. Changed out that plug and wire and fired her up. Ran like a top. Since im already in it for the whole set of plugs and wires I figure its time to replace them all. Only have one plug and wire left and im finished. Now that im not working today and in maintenance mode, I figure I will change the oil and filter while im at it. Shes only about 500 miles off from her next change anyhow. I dont have the owners manual for this truck yet and I just need the specs on oil viscosity and capacity. Also curious on when its recommended to change the pcv valve and breather?

Look in the faqs but my experience is the 5.2 liter oil change jugs work perfectly. The fsm calls for 10w-30

5 quarts of 5w30. Though, in my opinion, if its a high miler, you might want to step up to 10w40. And don't use synthetic unless you're POSITIVE the owner before you used synthetic.

5w30 is pretty universal but if you lived somewhere that is fairly warm all year round it would not hurt to run a bit thicker oil

Its not an exact science...more opinion than anything. backed up by some myth and some facts that dont always seem to apply or be noticable.
...I switched to synthetic and back to dino oil in my corvette because the synthetic didnt seem to do any better than dino oil vs cost and the damage was done...It burns oil since I bought it the only thing that slowed it down was the risoline engine restorer stuff... and that leaves a coating on everything inside the block making it harder to rebuild sometimes as a tradeoff...
