I could be wrong in general but i dont that would be a good comparison of your carborated motor vs. what his magnum should sound like. My point...my dads 84 360 dually on a straight pipe sounded much quieter and better than my 96 318 did. $.02

According to wikipedia in '88 the 318 gained throttle body fuel injection.

According to the federal government yes, but who cares about the fed's? Local laws are more important, check your local laws.

Around this part of Alabama, we use just bout all of it. For loud, try true dual 18" glasspacks, no cats, 5" tips. Or just put in straights (not fun to get pulled over for). Also a combo for good tone and volume would be true dual flowmaster super 40's or 44's ($100 a piece) out the back with 5" tips. no cats. Or if you wand cats, how bout true dual catbacks?

Back in the day when we lived in North Carolina we had an old Chevy Pickup, it had some exhaust leaks and was VERY loud, my mother was driving it one day and she got pulled over and ticketed for "noise pollution"

It's got a flowmaster on it, I think it's a super 40 but I'm not sure. It was on it when I got it and the po didn't remember. My buddy had duals on his truck with 18 inch thrush glasspacks on it and it wasn't that loud.

One more question, isn't it as long as you have a muffler they can't give you a ticket for being too loud?

That depends on local laws.
