Default shift light on when O/D is off

I don't have an owners manual but from what I've read the little triangle light is a shift light. I have an automatic and I thought I read this light was disabled in automatics. But it comes on and stays on as long as I have overdrive off. If it is a shift light it's in a strange place because you have to look around the steering wheel to see it. It's on the right side on the lower part of the dash beside shift lever. Any reason this should come on or is this a different indicator?

then i think it is the shift lamp. why its, on im not sure. if you have an auto tranny it shouldnt affect anything. what type of replationship it has with O/D, im not too sure on that one either. it could be a little glitch in your computer. it may think you need to shift and as soon as you put it in to O/D that might make the pcm think that you did shift...if that makes any sense. but if it bugs you, you always have the option of taking the bulb out.

FWIW, in OBD1 PCMs, the shift light pin on the PCM for a manual truck is the same pin for the torque converter lock-up on an automatic PCM, what this has to do with your situation, I have no idea.

Nahhh, it doesn't bother me. I've only had the truck for a few weeks and actually just noticed it about a week ago. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a problem indicator. Thanks guys
