Bigger brakes
I have a 96 1 ton dually w/diesel. I find that the brakes on this truck are rather poor. they look to be the same as the brakes on my uncles 96 3/4 ton.
My question is, is there a big brake kit out for my dually?
I have heard that rotors and calipers from a 04 dodge will bolt up is that true?

No, the brakes will not bolt up. No, there isn't a big brake upgrade kit (that I know of anyway). Yes, the brakes are pretty much the same as the ones on the 3/4 ton. IIRC, the rear wheel cylinders on the duallies were 1mm larger.
I have a few threads here you should check out. You will need to register to view them, but since you own a diesel...you should visit the diesel truck resource anyway. I don't even own a diesel, but I have found an enormous amount of information on problems and modifications for my truck (it's almost exactly the same, only difference is the V10). There's a lot of good information on improving 3/4 ton and 1 ton braking for very little money. I can't testify myself as to how well it works (I have the parts, but no time to install them) but there are several happy owners that have done this upgrade already.

And if you do that upgrade and properly adjust the rear shoes and STILL aren't happy, there is a company that sells a rear disc upgrade kit for $1500. I think that's a bit high myself. And from what I hear, the wheel cylinder mod produces much better results for only $30 and 3 hours of your time.

Thank you very much for all the info.
However, I don't see how just rear wheel cylinders would make that much difference, but its a start.
Anymore info on increasing brakin would be greatly appriciated

And as long as the shoes are adjusted properly, you should feel a difference.Another thing you could do is replace the brake hoses with Stainless Steel Braided hoses. The stock ones flex a lot under load.
There's a thread on this forum from a couple weeks ago with several links to places that sell direct replacement kits.
