Default transmition problems

I have a 97 ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9. Not sure what tranny it has, but heres the problems i am having..
1. noticable more when truck is cold, but it has a hard time shifting from 1st to second. once its warmed up all the way then shifts fine, which brings up the next problem.
2.. when starting from a stop it feels like it shutters on take off. then shifts fine through the rest of the gears, and more noticable when having a load or pulling..
any suggestions?
truck has 250k only had the truck a few years. I am not sure if its ever been worked on.
thanks in advance

Dont flush it, just drop pan replace filter and and refill.
Flushing can cause lots of problems including death of tranny.

supose to have a "trany tunup" done every 75k i beleive it is. but i heard alot of people say if u miss 75k dont do it, couse it will do more harm than good. not sure if theres any truth to this, but im sure some people will post there opinons after me. as for me ive got less than 5k on my rebuilt trany so hopfuly i wont have ant problems for awhile (knock on wood)
