Default Running lights and dash lights not working

The other night turned lights on and plunger pulled out so pushed it back in and now have no running or dash lights. Fuses look to be fine. Went and bought a new switch today because when I was messing with it if you pull out just enough to get the running lights on it works if you hold it just right but if you pull it out to turn on lights or dont hold it in the right spot the lights go off. Wondering if anyone can help me out. Thanks josh
I searched others threads but didnt notice anyone that could get them to come on at all.

Defective switch? probably not. Bad wire ? Pull the plastics off the steering column and inspect the harness running down it. Other than that, go to the FAQ/DIY section and download one of the free service manuals and get a Haynes. This way you can trace the wire's and maybe find the prob.
