Default coolant temp sensor

hi

a gentleman here suggested i might be having problems with my coolant temp sensor. not holding him to that, just started to look into replacing it. they have it at adv auto and it's fairly inexpensive. just fired up the 2001 dodge ram service manual and it says you have to drain the cooling system some to replace the sensor. is that true? what a hassle that would be. i have a 98 5.9

thanks for any info

You need to drain at least part of the cooling system, or swap that part out fast so as you don't get coolant on the ground and kill pets or contaminate the ground.

No big deal man. Keep us updated as far as what troubleshooting procedures you have performed thus far. And take care of that finger, I hope it isn't the middle one.

Off you don't partially drain your coolant system then coolant (and a lot of it) will poor out of the hole for the sensor when you pull it out
