Problem with Gear Indicator after reading DIY
I recently read Jasonw's Gear Indicator Fix DIY article. I went outside to inspect my own gear indicator, not knowing it may be that simple. Come to find out, the wire itself is broken. I'm assuming it hooks to the orange indicator and changes when the gears are shifted (shot in the dark). Anyway to hook this back on? I haven't seen what gear I'm in in over 2 years! Any help is very appreciated!

i swapped the cluster in my 01 and the PRNDL indicator was a module that inserted into the back side of the cluster. it had the plastic wire hanging out of it. the module was replaceable, so like zman said, you could get one from an old cluster. i'd guess that any year that was the same shape (vertical or horizontal) would work and possible from any model dodge truck, van, durango, maybe more in the general year range.
I did some tinkering today in my automotive class. I removed the knee panel and noticed that the white cable guard going to the PRND21 assembly was broken, which I assumed broke the cable at the same time. I was told by my instructor that a new assembly would need to be purchased, cable and all. Anyone got a spare?
and when I say assembly, I mean the PRND21 and the cable :P

Yeah my cable was broken when I bought my truck, I found a cable out of a 01 durango, it looked a little different but worked all the same, the best part I didnt have to pay for it! It was one of those "things" that fall into your tool bag you know
Lol
Lol
Yea, lol, a few things "fall into" my tool box sometimes too
