Default over drive

What's overdrive do? I don't drive yet..so thats why I don't know. Also..do all dodges have that crazy axle cover...mine has some huge metal tubing covering the whole length of it.

In simple terms, it allows you to get more revolutions out of the transmission than what you put in.

I don't really understand your axle question. Dodges don't have axle covers. In fact, I've never even heard of such a thing as an axle cover. What you see there is the axle housing....that's what pretty much all DANA/Chrysler Corporate axles look like. Except Dodge has the "wonderful" CAD housing cast into the front axle. Are you maybe looking at the driveshaft? [&:]
