Wink Record Breaker Ram?

I'm not sure if this is a record or not, but I figured I would be nice to my Ram and tune him up, finally...

Its a 1997 Ram 1500 4x4 5.9 gas and it went 187000 miles with zero tune-up's, and I mean zero. This was my dads truck for a few years and I drove it in highschool when I didn't feel like driving my Charger R/T, other than that it was beat up on the ranch till 3 years ago when made it my daily driver.

The plugs were perfect color and the cap had minor oxidation, and the injectors had zero black come out of them. No misses, no codes, 16mpg city... top it off the plenum is clean and dry. Knock on wood...

What a great machine!

The new tune-up did make him run better IMO, cant wait to see the MPG gains.

While I totally believe that it ran fine and put up with all kinds of abuse. My truck seems to do better the more I abuse it.

I'm a little skeptical on the 16 mpg. I have a 5.9 with similiar miles and I'm getting 10.5 recently.

Ya on my 5.9 i get around 11 maybe 12 if i'm lucky. Must be a city with absolutely no stop signs\lights. I'd only get 16mpg highway on a not-so-windy day. But congrats, regardless.

Been watching my mileage for 20k or so, and yup stays around 15 or 16. Probably more than that because I have 265/70's, barely taller, but taller none the less...

I never get on it, I'm never in a rush and I avoid the police, so i just putt around. My TV cable is set to where it kicks into 2nd quick

Maybe it's time to adjust the good ol' TV cable then.
