I have a 1998 Dodge Ram. 1500. 5.2L 4x4 5 speed. Its a reg cab shorty. And the colour is "deep amethyst pearl". I have heard they only put that colour on rams for 2 years. 98 and 99. Anyone know any different?

 

The 5 speeds are kind of rare but there are some out there for sale. That particualar factory paint scheme is likely extremely rare. However, Id bet it's rareness value is negatively offset by it's pinkness value.

 

My 98 is two tone with that bluish purple color being one and silver grey being the other i am having it painted solid with that purple color because i don't see it much as for 5 speed I had a dakota that I needed 5 speed tranny and was very hard to find used waited 8 months before findind one although fairly easy to find new or rebuilt if you have the money.

 

Ive got same color as you do, deep amethyst pearl with a matching camper shell from the factory...

 

As old as all my vehicles are I believe they are well done!

 

My truck is driftwood, which I've heard was only a 96 color (never felt the need to look this up) and it kinda goes brown in the right light but grey any other time

 

My brothers 2000 reg cab SLT is that amethyst color. He bought it new, so I know it's not a repaint. Even when they don't offer a specific color in the normal catalog, if it's offered on another vehicle they make, you can usually special order it. My brother got his off the lot in Sacramento, so if it wasn't offered that model year for the Ram, the dealer special ordered it.
