Default 2001 1500, tapping noise
I've had my truck over a year now. What is the tapping noise in the engine I hear about once a minute when the truck if idling or I am sitting in a drive thru? It taps once. That normal?

Oops I bought said cooling off didn't realize you said idling, is your ac on when it taps? The clutch on the compressor makes a kind of tap noise when it engages

What is oil pressure like at idle? How long ago was last oil change?

A mechanic's stethoscpe is about $4.....and works well to track someting like that down.

Ok it only does this when the heater is on. I watched it click on and off on the drive belt.
