Default sunroof install

I know some of the dodge rams came with a factory sunroof option but im not sure what year it was avalible. Has anyone put in a sunroof themselves in a standard cab? My truck is a 95 ram 1500slt 4x4 standard cab and I was wondering if its possible to put one in it. Any advice or pictures would be appreciated.

My advice on this subject, is that if the vehicle didn't come from the factory with a sunroof/moonroof....DO NOT put one in. I have NEVER seen an aftermarket sunroof that didn't leak. Doesn't matter who put it in. That's just my experience though.

I don't believe that the sunroof option was available on the 2nd Gens...at least not the first design. They may have added it when they changed the styling in 98. I know when the 3rd gens hit the streets it was an option...an expensive one too.

My brother-in-law has one in his 97 single cab. It is the sport type where the glass opens up and slides on top. As far as I know he has had no ploblems with leaking or anything. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have the sliding shade. That comes in handy on really hot days. A local shop here said that they caould do the shades on the qaud and four door but not the single cab.(No room to slide it.) I don't know if you have priced sunroofs lately, but they are not cheap. For the sport version was somthing like $980.00. And if you wanted the moonroof option that slides into the roof was around $1200.00. Pretty steep in my book, even though they did offer a lifetime garentee on the product and workmanship.

Measure twice (or three times), cut once. It's easier to take a little more out than to put a little back.

I know I have seen a few 2gn standard cabs with sunroofs that looked pretty decent. It does make sense that the standard cab wouldn't have enough room for a power sliding moonroof. When it would be all the way back it would stick out probably 5-6 in. beyond the cab. As far as leaking issues, that is definetely something I don't want to deal with.

I have the factory power moon roof in my 98 regular cab. I absolutely love it. I'd post some pics, but the site won't let me (keep getting an error message). I'll try again later.
