Just a little weary of putting something not so viscous in my oil, and running the risk of ruining the bearings.

Friend said to try that bg44k, Guess ill try one of these options when it comes to changing my oil. For now im not dumping out 5 quarts of Rotella T6 that only has 1200 miles on it. That oil is too expensive.. Would a sticky lifter like you guys mention go away when the engine is hot ? The tapping is gone once the engine is nice and hot, but its more pronounced when cool or next to a brick wall.

 

Change the oil again and replace one quart of oil with a quart of Rislone for long term cleaning of the motor. Use a quart every oil change in place of one quart of oil. The motor will be cleaned slowly and when /if you open up the motor, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

 

i was told the cleaning ingredent in sea foam was kerosene and has some lubercant property, unlike solvent. not sure if it's true but i never heard of anyone taking out a engine using sea foam.there was a company called forte that had a engine flush that worked good but havent seen them around for years.

Rule number 2: The mopar Hyd lifters are junk, but that's all we have.

It's all too common for the check ball sub assembly inside the lifter to seperate from the housing, you won't see it unless you you take the lifter apart...The springs inside the lifter don''t wear out (there are two), the lifter comes apart allowing it to bleed down instantly.

 

You said it gets louder when the truck is by a wall. You sure you dont have a very small exhaust leak?

 

I've often wondered about Rislone. I might give it a try sometime. At this rate, my motor is just begging me to kill it

 

I was thinking the exact same thing! A while back, I thought I had lifter tick, ended up being a small exhaust leak. The price of installing headers that come with not so good gaskets.

I would have been POed if it was lifter tick on an engine with only 50K miles. But since I had JUST installed headers, I really inspected for a leak.
