Default Grinding

Hi all, i am new to the forum and new to dodge trucks, so be gental after all I am a recovering ford owner. Well I have had my 99 ram 1500 quadcab 4X4 with the 8ft bed with the trusty 318 with a auto trans. Now that i have given you all some info on the truck. the problem is when i crank the wheel all the way to the left or the right, something grinds loudly. i can back the wheel off an inch and it doesn't grind, at first i thought it was the tires (which are 285 75 16 yokohama geolanders and which i think are junk) but then i thought duh that wouldn't make a metal on metal grinding sound, so i checked the brakes cause that is really what it sounds like and there good, and i looked under the truck and i can't seem to find anywhere that maybe worn. anybody any any ideas
