where should i put my new antenna? Got 2 on right fender(stereo, cb) and one on left (vhf) need to mount a UHF antenna thats a 36in stainless whip.(looks same as cb and the vhf antenna just shorter). Was thinking left fender or roof. If i went with left fender id have to mount closer to front of truck as my vhf antenna is ver there. right side wouldnt work very well. soo roof or left side? another location?? here is pic of currant setup. radio location wont be an issue as it takes place of my vhf radio(getting a Alinco DR 635 dual band vhf/uhf setup).

I have my CB antenna mounted in one of the stake hole's in the bed.

Since you are replacing your vhf radio with a dual band radio, you could also replace your vhf antenna with a dual band NMO antenna.

Larsen makes a pretty good one, unless you prefer separate antennas. In that case, I'd put it in the roof. If you don't want to drill a hole in the roof, add it to the left side.

I wouldn't mount a UHF antenna in the stake pocket, unless you use one of the back ones. The front one will place the antenna too close to the cab.

If it were me, I'd use a dual band antenna.

 

Yup just was yping up that i am just going to go with a dual band NMO antenna. Is the larsen one plug and play or am i going to have to tune it? I have been l;ooking at that one and really like it.

 

Usually, you can just screw 'em on and go, but not all the time. Depends on the location.

It's been awhile since I've fooled with anything above 6m, so I'm going on memory.

So.......maybe on the plug and play, but not hard to adjust if you need to.
