Default body lift w/ winch bumper

well I decided that my truck is still not tall enough. So i have the 3" body lift laying around and decided 3" inches should be fun. Then i got to thinking. They give you new bumper brackets for the front. Well seeing how i have a winch bumper with a 15,000lb winch i dont want to mount it to anything other than my frame... i guess i can just mount it to the frame and it will just look a little funny but its about my only way to go higher....

Fab up brackets for your winch bumper to accomodate the body lift. Talk to the vendor of your bumper and they should accomodate what you need to do....to keep the customer happy.

I wouldn't use the BL brackets if that is what are considering. They would only be useful as template assuming you only use the bolt holes it uses. IMO, there needs to be much more material/strength.

For example, the Alien Patrol bumper, which is similar to yours (but I don't know if your mount brackets are similar), just uses the stock frame locations. Over time...they rattle and the bumper starts to roll up into the grill. Something to consider, if you haven't already.

I would think that bumper brackets should be longer to prevent the bumper from pulling upward. This wpuld provide more leverage to reduce this movement. With no winch mine had the same issue.

Now that would be the logical thing to do by the company manufacturing these bumpers, which is easy enough. However, such an "extension" puts the install into a realm of having the end-user drill the frame rails or weld. No company really desires to get into that "instruction" set given the laws regarding bumpers. People may still install improperly and claim liability.....

People have modded their mounting themselves for those reasons, own hand or shop.
