What Size Engine Do I Have?
This might Sound like a very "smart" question. But i am wondering, What size engine do i have?
That's okay you can laugh
i don't mind. The reason i am asking is that i just bought a used
1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 v8 quad cab. Since it is used, it didn't come with an owner's manual nor
do the doors have the sticker of the manufacturing date. I opened the hood, and no help there either. Any clues.
I know it could either be a 5.2 or 5.9 liter engine since it is a v8.
Thanx

yep, look for a white with black writings and idagram decal... should be on your core support on the undersideof teh hood, its teh miisions lable and required to be there by law....(in Md they CAN remove your tags for not having it) it will tell you...
Well, since this truck isn't in the U.S. these laws don't apply. No sticker. So i based myself on the vin number. And it has Z. Therefore i have a 5.9 L v8 automatic trans 1998 dodge ram1500 4x4.
Thanks guys for your quick response. But because i bought it used i have been constantly replacing parts. Hopefully i will get the truck the way it should perform.

Engines can be swapped. We went by the VIN on my buddy's 73 and a bunch of stuff wasn't quite right, then we looked at his block and it said 318 right on the driver's side below the head towards the back, and when we bought the 318 parts they fit.
My uncle thought he had a 318 in his van, I looked and it's actually a 360. Goes both ways.
