Unhappy 1999 diesel 5 spd trans shifts hard at stop

nv2500 transmission shifts hard at stop, when warm
200k mi original clutch, will extenD clutch rod at slave help ??

no expert here but sounds like you may need a new clutch, w/ 200k miles are you the original owner? if not then you really don't know what the truck has been through before you got it. theres an inspection area on the bellhousing that you can use to see the clutch, i'd look at that. if it looks good then i would try adjusting the clutch rod.

You would have an NV4500, and what exactly do you mean by shifts hard?

Sounds like your clutch ain't disengaging, fluid have broken down some causing it to act stupid when warm, but I would do a clutch if it has that many miles behind a diesel... :twocents:
