water pump pulley squeeling after going through puddle?
well i thought it was my idler pulley so i replaced that, belts good. squeeling still continued. started last night when i went through a couple big *** puddles. i think its the water pump pulley but im not sure how to tell. i sprayed some lube in there and it stops for about 10 minutes but then starts back up. whats going on here?!
check that the belt is properly lined up on each pulley. sometimes they'll slip on one of them by one rib.
with engine running and your hands completely out of the way, look and see if the belt is tracking straight.
unhook the belt from the tensioner.
rotate and wiggle each pulley by hand. check for silent spin and no wobble or clicky. make sure tensioner spring is working correct to keep the belt tight.
remove belt and check its condition. should be no threads showing through, no cracks,
if nothing obvious, spray the pulleys with brake cleaner to clean them of mud and oil. let dry and reinstall everything.
