I went to have the codes searched. They told me up front it won't show anything if the "check engine" light isn't on.. (It wasn't.. It didn't) Hasn't been on for around a year. I couldn't make it come on to save my, or my tranny's life.
Now that I changed the fluid, filter, cleaned gov sol & sensor, replaced tranny speed sensor, found "faulty gov. plug" Guess what the code tells me?
Gov Press Regulator. I'm thinking the broken plug. So I'll go ahead and order another.
I presently have all manual gears. all auto gears except 1st.
I am keeping my eye open for a replacement. Maybe consider rebuilding one myself.
Thanks

And get one of these for a drain plug, you won't be sorry.

Yea, read that already. Doesn't work with my truck.
Thanks for making sure I was aware of that way. I may get a newer truck it will. One day/year/century

I do plan on putting a plug in when I change out the fluid & gov. solenoid
Thanks again.

oh I believe you... just saying keep in mind next time ... the transmission doesnt turn on the light in these vehicles and most autostores are clueless about it...

BTW if you have an android phone or a laptop and about $20.00 extra bucks to spare, I suggest getting an "ELM327" obd to serial port adapter from ebay.... they make them in bluetooth style which works awsome with a free app called "Torque" for the android or you can use them with a bunch of free programs and a laptop. I recommend the one with the wired usb cable if your going the latter route as its much easier to get working with a laptop.

remember to look for version 1.4 or higher of the adapter .... I have bought a couple and they work great to show you all your computers readings in real time. as well as mpg and HP and quarter mile times and such...

WHOAAAAAA, That is really awesome info there. I'll keep it in mind for a future project. I've fallen way behind with my truck & all. Not to mention financially strapped from 340 for front end alignment & new tires. I'm also way behind on an oil change. And I was already swamped prior to that.
I'd have to go with the laptop version. Since I don't have a phone nor do I ever intend on getting one.
Thanks for this.
