It's a catalytic converter, nothing to do with Cadillac.
You can use whatever fits, but 2.5"-3" will yield better flow with single outlet pipes. Using less will restrict it = less power.
thats only true to a point... you need some restriction near the headers to get the scavenging effect to help pull gasses from the engine. (this is what most mistakenly refer to as "good backpressure") the exhaust has to be in range to tune it to the engines needs..too big a pipe and you lose power especially in normal to lower rpm range.... If no restriction really was best the engine wouldnt run so terrible with no exhaust on it...
you get the same effect as putting a 52mm throttlebody on a stock engine... you lose low end power on the dyno..
