Default Little exhaust help

I’m getting ready to do exhaust on my 01 5.9. I am wanting to run duals, and debating on running out of the cat into a single muffler with dual outs, or run a y-pipe to 2 mufflers. I was considering running true duals, but I figure that I will have to much flow with true duals. Also what size of pipe should I run with each setup? I was figuring 2 ½ inch but please let me know what you guys run and what works best. I use it as my DD and also tow frequently. Thanks
Phil

i would go with the 2-1/2 in and 2in dual out. having a y pipe to two mufflers is pointless, you would only be wasting your money and it wouldn't even be loud. Im running a flowmaster dual out american thunder kit with a magnaflow high flow cat. hope that helps ha.

ive only got a v6, but i also have a magnaflow high flow cat and just put on a flowmaster 40 series 3" in dual 2.25" out. magnaflow 3" tips.

it sounds amazing and has a little more kick too. also noticed it much better on gas, especially on highway

I have a "Ravin" muffler with 2 1/2 inch outlets, 2 1/2 pipe out the back with 3 1/2 chrome tips. I get compliments on the sound all the time. It is LOUD if thats what you want. Puts out enough sound to set off car alarms in parking garages - hee hee! My system was done by Midas about 4 years ago, I went in there a while ago to get a quote on duals for my son's truck and was told they may be phasing out the Ravins. I would go there soon if you are interested! Mine is starting to rust out at the outlets, (60,000mi), I actually think I'm going to a Flowmaster or something a little quieter next time (more stealth, lol) You DO NOT want to go with 2 mufflers on a cat-back system, waste of money, not loud, more restriction. True duals is a cool idea, but you would have to fabricate the entire system yourself. It would be extremely hard to find a shop that will touch it anymore - because modifying the original cat system is a BIG fine. (My state has Vehicle Inspections) I tried everything to get true duals ran on mine before settling on my setup. Hope this helps.
