Default Window/Door Lock Problems

I have a 2000 Ram 1500. I recently replaced the speaker in the drivers side front speaker in the door. I removed the door panel and replaced the speaker. When I reconnected the switch for the windows/door lock they are not working correctly. The passenger side window is fine, it will raise and lower. The drivers side window will raise, but not lower. The doors will unlock, but not lock. Is that little console gone bad? I was thinking about replacing it to see if that works. Any ideas?

Have you checked to make sure that no wires are pinched and that the plug is completely pushed in?

Then it is very possible the switch is going bad. Might be able to find one in a junkyard instead of going to the dealer..

Anyone else have any ideas or quick fixes? Its hard to find them in a junkyard, and they are $75 new.

Diy section. There's a thread called window contact cleaning, or something to that nature. I preformed the fix and it worked for awhile. It's basically cleaning the contacts on the switch levers as they corrode and burn up over time. All you need are a couple tools...per your previous I can see you already have gotten into the door, get some fine sand paper or streak your girls nail file, the sand paper type and clean the contacts...

Otherwise grab a new set of contacts from the JY...5 bucks max in my experience.

A member on here zman might have something for you. I know he had a bunch of little parts he had picked up on a trip to the junkyard.

If you cut off the plug to the original speaker to install new ones, make certain you did not cut the insulation to another wire near by mistakenly, otherwise it could ground out & cause stuff not to work right. A volt meter may be of help in tracing this down also.

Remove switch panel fomr door, siconnect the wiring connector. Trace the wires to the up/down switch for that window. Use a DMM to check the function of the switch. Better to know if it is bad before throwing oarts at it only to find out switch was good.
