Default Subwoofer install in rear cab interior panel?

I just finished installing all new speakers in my truck (very happy with the results) and when I pulled the rear panels, I noticed a rather large square cutout below the window where I guess passengers could store something. I am wondering if it would be feasible to install subs in the panel. I would build a box out of mdf or fiberglass to fit in the opening, sealing the body panel would be a pain. I would be putting 8" subs in. Has anyone done this before? would the subs pointing at each other in the rear of the cab have poor acounstic performance compared to mounting under the rear seat?

Also to minimize cuts to the body panel could I build a box around the extrusion of the door panel going into the body of the truck and cut a port (say 4" diameter) into the panel leading into the box? Or would that be a bad idea?

btw I have a 96 Ram 1500 extended cab

Hmmm. No such cut out in a 99. Interesting placement. If you do it - gotta post photos!
