Default %$#!@ radiator drain ****

I have a 99 ram 2500 8.0l. It's coolant is big time bad looking and I need to flush the system completely.

It has the plastic drain **** but I guess there are two types.
One you turn and pull out the other you keep turning and it pops out.
Mine turns 1/4 turn ccw where the tab is crosswise to the drain and I pull and pull and it does not come out. I am thinking about trying to force it past that 1/4 turn but don't want to make more work. Any ideas?

the only kind i've seen on dodge trucks and jeeps are the 1/4 turn - pull out - 1/4 turn - comes all the way out.

after the first quarter turn, grip it with a pair of pliers and pull out gently while giving it a little back and forth twist. it should twist the second 1/4 CCW turn only when it begins to pull out.

do not force it to turn. you'll break it.

+1 on that. Be patient and wiggle it back and forth, but do not use too much force or you will have to replace radiator. Crap builds up around the seat on these and gums it up.

Default Thanks

Turn, pull, turn some more!
Thanks a million...make it a Trillion
I thought that you either turned and pulled or just turned it.
My radiator is draining! With the drain **** I can put some tubing on the **** and NOT drip it all over the ground.

Too bad the block drain, I assume these V10 have only one, wasn't a petcock as well. I drained that yesterday and it splattered all around stuff on the way down.
