How hard to replace AC Compressor on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500? Seems pretty simple. Let the freon out, take Belt off, unbolt 4-6 bolts, unplug all of the wires, install new compressor, hook up wires, put belt back on, recharge system. Anything I'm missing here? Seems pretty straight forward.

It is straight forward, but a shop should remove the refrigerant and recharge the system. It should not just be released into the air.

I have a small reclaim tank that is plenty for this job. First time I'll be able to use it!

Do not forget tro pull vacuum on system after connecting it all back up, and adding oil to the system when you start to recharge. I let it sit with a vacuum overnight if I can to make sure system is tight.

Make sure to get a new receiver/drier and flush out the lines with a cleaner. There may be further instructions that come with the compressor that are required for a warranty so do those too. If you don't have recipes for them the compressor manufacturer will not warranty it.
