AC question.. jumped the low pressure switch and the compressor engaged. What next?
Well.... I bit the bullet and bought a can of refrigerant. I figured I would give it a shot. Well, I found a leak. There is a pin hole leak on the discharge line from the compressor to the condenser. Looking in the parts manual there was no part number for the individual line, only for the suction/discharge AC line as a whole.
Any reason for this? I thought the AC lines used quick connect fittings? I looked up the part number from the manual and its like a hundred bucks, but I only need one piece of hose. Hundred bucks seems excessive.

Hi there Eddie and all,
I too have a leaking line near the front wheel arch on the driver side This is lines that go to the back of the vehicle (dual air). I want the AC fixed. These lines rotted due to salt and sand (that is still sitting on top of the lines). I can not find these lines anywhere!! No one sells them. No one will make them. Dealer can not even get them. I have 2001 Durango with a 4.7 4x4. Really like the dual air that has been great since we got it till not. The compressor works great. Obvious would need to get a new dryer but without new lines........ Does the book that you have list any of these lines and does anyone out there on the forum know of anyone who makes them? Really frustrating not to be able to find the parts. I don't care about the cost.
Thanks again Walter2

walter2, the parts book he is referencing (along with the service manual) are available to download in the FAQ/DIY section here on DF.
I cannot receall exactly, but I don't remember if the hoses can be deisconnected from the fitting where they connect to the compressor....I'll go out and look later!
Found this pic....

gdstock,
My leak is on the high pressure side just out of view of that picture where the metal tubing switches to the rubber insulated lines. Of course mine is a V10 so it looks a little different.
I was at the dealership getting the oil changed in my Charger and decided to pick the parts guys brain. He told me that the suction and discharge lines were one piece (as the manual shows), and it was $200+, and no dealership in the country had it in stock. Haha good old dealership fiction.
I found the part online for about $100. I might just jump on it.
Also, when I was at the shop getting the resonators cut out of my Charger I asked them about AC service. To leak test they charge $35 for evacuation of the AC lines and a leak test, and then $35 per pound for refridgerant. So I believe our system holds 32 ounces, or two pounds. So all in all about $110. Seems reasonable once I fix the leaks.
Thanks.

Did they give an estime of the cost to repair the leak, depending on what it is of course....
As you look at the photo of mine, you can see the hoses are crimped onto the tubing, and each tubing piece is welded to the manifold fitting. I cannot imagine that a hydraulics place (tractor dealer) or someone could not replace the hose...crimp and all. Not like it is rocket science....
