Not so sure about special break in procedure but I do have a question for you thought. I noticed in your signature that you have iridium plugs there. Do you think that may have caused a problem? I know that when I tried platinum plugs I changed them out right after the test drive of about 5 miles. The pinging was so bad I was afraid to drive it back to my house and really considered calling my wife and having her bring her truck to me so I could tow it.

yeah these plugs don't seem to cause any ping. The plenum caused major pinging and a couple trips out of town over some steep grades @ 70 mph is what I think killed the piston. Probably stress cracked it before I fixed the plenum.

Might check FSM and see if there is anything there about break in. Also owners manual if you have it.

the thing I'm baffled about is how did dumping any oil in the cylinder get it back up to 90lbs of compression with a piston blown to bits like that! LOL.

Yeah that threw me off too. I was like WTF when I did the compression test.

So I think the only thing I need to do is get the fuel sync dialed in. I guess I need to find a shop to do that for me. I do not have the scan tool.

I drove it across town lastnite. It was about 20 miles or so total. Truck is running good.

I am following this breakin procedure.
