New guy here, and have some questions? My 01 Ram has had a coolant smell coming from the air/ heat ducts. Iam thinking maybe a bad heater core? Also i have one of those wonderful cracked dashes, and wondering if i can get at the heater core without removing the dash( there isn't much left to it).Big chunks broke off on the passenger side. The truck has 190,000 on it it, and i have never changed the heater hoses.
Also would like to remove the a/c in my truck, and wondering if it is more trouble than it is worth. I don't use it anymore.

yup heater core is gone. you need to remove the dash in order to get the hvac box out. just get a shorter belt and bypass your a/c compressor.

i see youre in mass..... im in nh. can i buy, or have your a/c compressor?

 

Yeah, i was afraid it was the heater core. And unfortunatly no shortcuts for getting it out.
