Hey guys, so i'm new to this forum. I already posted in the welcome area but since i've got a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 i thought i would make myself welcome here first. I do have one question however...

I got my truck about a year ago and it didn't come with the remote unlock/lock fob, so we called the dealer and it apparently never came with that system at all.

Is there a way to find out if my truck is able to have a key fob programmed? I heard that if there is a certain wire or something somewhere then my truck has the ability to get one programmed? Thanks guys.

As far as I know, it's all controlled by the CTM, Central Timing Module. I think if it didn't come factory, it would be easier and better to install an aftermarket solution. I got a keyless entry and remote start kit off ebay for $40.

 

Buy a wiring kit. You can get one at advance for 20 bucks. Comes with everything you need to make sure the job is done right and not rednecked.
