Rear ends
So I'm having my engine rebuilt bc it's just so worn out and I had the tranny rebuilt bout 3 years ago and I was thinking the only thing that will be stock still is the rear end. I'm running 33's on it with a 2 inch lift and think I might go up to 35's and a little bigger lift mainly for looks bc this is my daily driver and tow rig for my jeep. But I'm wondering if I should have the rear end rebuilt up gears changed for a little extra power. Plus I'd like to put a locker in it so I figured I'd get yalls opinion on what gear ratio y'all would suggest for a daily driver and every once in a while a tow rig. Just me know yalls opinion.
Make sure you got a built rear-end. Gonna have alot of stress on the tranny. And if you'll be towing, checkout the threads on check valve delete and look into buying a tranny cooler. Dont cheapout on a tranny cooler.
I would advise 4.88's since you are towing. 4.56's will return you to the stock powerband with 35's, and 4.88's will give you that bit of extra oomph you were talking about
And locker wise, if you are gonna be primarily on the road use an Eaton Truetrac gear driven LSD. Other wise, it's your preference on whether you want a selectable locker or automatic.
