Default 77 D100 360 for sale

OK, guy at work says he has a 360 out of a '77 D100 in great condition he'll sell me for a hundred bucks. I have a 5.2 in my '01 and have been considuring an engine build & swap to turn my truck into a real muddin beast. Anyone have any warnings, suggestions, or pitfalls they think I should know. My first concern, my 46RE tranny, adaptable or trash. If trash, suggestions if I plan to off-road some? Thanks all.

it won't work in your truck. you can stick a magnum where a la engine was but you can not stick la engine where a magnum was without more work than it is worth.

Hell that 318 is one tough motor id stick with it. I've flooded mine with water 3 time so far and every time just turned the starter over with the air box off until it dried up and ran it through the pit again never got stuck always made it out before the water worked its way in lol.

Yea, I've been havin some second thoughts about changing out the 318 what with some of the power I could tap w/ just some simple mods. Kinda wish I was more knowledgeble about mod.s w/ the fuel injection vs a carb. I appreciate any suggestions or war stories you can share. I'm lookin to change the 3:55 gears out to 4:56 what with my 35" tires and all. Got the K&N airfilter showing up anyday now, and iconsiduring a summit plug, wire, & cap kit. What do you all think?

Best hp and tq mod would be to swap it for the 360, but it needs to be a magnum 360. If you do keep the 318 then a set of efans and a sct tuner from hemifever along with headers and exhaust will really open it up.
