So what's a guy to do? I was trying to eliminate a clunking source when going over bumps and figured I didn't tighten these down enough...my muscles are too big!
It a thin ring on top of the spring with the studs pressed in. Remove the spring to remove the ring. Then either get another ring from the junk yard, try to press the broken stud out and replace (if a new stud can even be sourced), or its time to order a level kit from Hell Bent Steel for around $65-$75. The HBS level replaces the ring and has new studs in it. http://stores.ebay.com/HELL-BENT-STE...=p4634.c0.m322
thank you sir. I will most likely go ahead and get the level kit since it was something I was wanting to do anyway. Should it be safe to drive for a bit? I drove it around over some big bumps to see if it was going to rattle or anything and I didn't hear a peep from it. Apparently the other two are REALLY tight.
It holds the basket that holds the shock. IMO, nothing life or death. Just take it easy and it should be fine until the level kit comes in. I think it would be fine for a few.
