Front door speakers
Yesterday and today I have been searching for some information on front speakers. I see my 2001 Ram quad cab non infinity Head Unit uses 6.5 instead of 6x9 is this correct. I also found what could be a nice pair of speakers on flea bay. They are called speaker component set instead of just speakers. Can I install them or do I need a sound shop to install them. I ride a motorcycle to and from work every day. However when it rains and lately it's been raining I take the Rammer. However the only speakers I hear are the Memphis rear (small) speakers installed by a sound shop. I installed my Head Unit my self with the help of you guys and that went well. I am temped to do the door fronts but will need your help again. I sure do miss my sounds. I have a 100watt Head Unit and I think the factory stockers finally parted ways with the Ram. Any help ideas comments recommendations will be apprieciated.
Thanks Obie

Pull door panels and see what is there. I replaced the ones in my 99, but I don't remember the size. You will need to get a coule package of door clips form parts store as they will strip and break when you remove panel. Easy job.
They're crappy paper cone 6x9" speakers. If you are still going to use the factory head unit I recommend you buy a set of low RMS watt speakers to replace them. Cheaper the better to be honest. However, with an after market head unit and hopefully an amp, you can invest in some good sounding drivers.
There are also adapters that allow a 6.5" round speaker to be mounted where a 6x9" speaker used to be. Gives you more options, but still keep the wattage low on factory head unit systems.
