Default '97 360 vs 2000 360....97 seems to have more power! is it just me?

So my sister had her 2000 Dodge Ram 4x4 Sport for a while and I always loved the power that truck had, but it always seemed to have a slight surge in the low end of the powerband, brake stands were tough to do, chirping the tires was even tough, but it always had great straight line power after 15mph. Now 2 months ago I bought my truck, a '97 Dodge Ram 4x4 Sport, even with a blown plenum gasket, 5 cracked valve seals & 3 fouled out plugs & nearly disintegrated distributor rotor it would burn the tires all day like nobodies business and leap off the line like a raped ape prior to me fixing those issues & giving it a tune up.

No idea what the heck it is, but my '97 360 would mop the floor with my sisters 2000 Ram's 360, and the gap has widened even more rediculous after my tune up & plenum repair.

I heard there was a PCM update on these trucks to bandaide & cover up the plenum gaskets blowing, but would that be the difference in power I'm feeling between the two? I did replace the plenum gasket on her truck as well as tune up...same treatment I gave mine, still doesn't move like my truck. Also Ironically both trucks are near 170,000 miles on them.

**UPDATE** her truck has the death flash....answered my own question, sorry guys for the redundant questions!

you got it...

install a superchips or SCT tune in the '00 to revive it.
also fix her plenum, and check for clogged cat. every dodge suffers from those.
