Default 1996 Starts on 2nd crank

Bought a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 a few months ago. The truck will never start on the first turn of the key but will always start on the second. Then when I have been driving the truck for a little while, turn it off and then back on it will start right away. Don't know where to begin and could use any advice you have.

Thanks.

if it was my guess, id say it sounds like you dont have enough fuel pressure that first go around, but itbuilds it, so the 2nd time it starts, and after being pressurized it will auto start back up the first time, just a guess from a keyboard. cause would be the fuel pump get old and just not building as fast, could go out down the road.

You got a reply in your other double post. Are we not quick enough? Maybe a mod will merge the thread. And read the posting rules please.

Try this: Instead of starting the truck when it's been sitting overnight, just turn the key on for three seconds, then off again for several seconds. Do that once more, then after it's been off for several seconds the second time, go ahead and crank it up. If it fires normally, you're losing fuel pressure as it sits, probably due to a leaking anti-drainback valve in the fuel pump.

[EDITED TO ADD:] Yeah, what zman said in both places.
