Default 01 ram 1500 for sale has leaks around transfer case seams.

I looked at a 2001 1500 4x4 thats for sale at a local used car dealer but when i looked under the truck i could tell the transfer case has a leak around the seam.how do you fix this type of leak?other than that the trucks in really good shape and the dealer seems to think its no big deal.im guessing you have to take the transfer case apart to fix it?

i have a 2001 dodge 1500 and the transfer case started leaking about a month after i bought it. be ready to pay a good $400 to fix it, if its not just the seals. mine had a hairline crack and had to replace the shell

Use that fact to talk them down on the price if you want to take the chance. Be prepared that someone could have had serious issues with that, filled it up, and traded it in....not that I used to sell cars, but I used to sell cars....

I wish I had known when I bought mine, could have gotten $400 knocked off the price.
My transmission was leaking between the trans and the t-case, had everything taken in for service once I was losing a ton of fluid, $400 for a trans service and seal replacement. Not a single problem since.
