Default Air bag light on and no cruise control

So to start this story off, I was replacing all my steering linkage, pump and box. My future brother-in-law decided he was going to play with the steering wheel while everything was unhooked.

So, fast forward to after I am done. Now I have no cruise control and my air bag light is on.

I figure he must have turned the wheel too far. Where would I look for the broken connection? Just in behind the air bag in the steering wheel? Or will I have to take the panels off the steering column to get at it from behind the steering wheel?

Thanks for any help.

I think you need to replace the clockspring. They aren't cheap.

How about taking one out of a truck at a pick n pull? How bad are they to change out?

Not too bad. just don't let the center turn when you pull it out. Center steerting wheel before removing it, then pull clockspring. Use tape to hold it in place.

I was just looking on rockauto and found air bag clock spring w/ speed control for $30.28 CDN. Would it work as well as one of the more expensive models?

What could a company cheap out on when making a clock spring? How could they make something for over $100 dollars cheaper than the next cheapest brand?

Other than the fact the Dorman is made in china as the others may be. That is a very good question.

Pretty sure everything is made in china now. The price is almost too hard to pass up though. A brand new part for the price of a pick n pull.

Maybe I'll try a little google fu and see if there are any bad reviews on these Dorman parts.
